MIG Welding for the Novice

Students will receive basic instruction in MIG(wire) Welding, welding safety, machine setup and troubleshooting.

With over 25 years of experience teaching welding, Doug Clark, has taught hundreds of students including local trades apprentices and industry tradesmen at Ivy Tech and Tech Ed. 

All equipment and materials will be provided.  Students must be 15 years of age or older. Students under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Due to modern advances in welding technology learning to weld is now easier than ever.

MIG welding is a semi-automatic process that does not require long hours of repetitive practice.  The equipment is compact and affordable and many models run on 115 volts.  In just a few hours of instruction, with a little practice, a student can achieve reasonable proficiency in this welding process.

SHAK Membership Discount: Students who become a member of SHAK Makerspace during class sessions receive a $15 discount on the first month's dues, which are regularly only $35/month for an individual and $50/month for a household.  Ask your SHAK event host or instructor.

Participant Cancellations: Participants may cancel class reservations up to 48 hours prior to the event start time and receive a refund.  Refunds will not be given if cancellation is made within 48 hours of class start time.

If minimum class size is not reached class will be cancelled, participants will be notified and class admission fees will be refunded.
